Internships play an important role in shaping a student’s academic life. As per the Bar Council of India rules and the Karnataka State Law University guidelines, students are mandated to undergo a compulsory 20 weeks of Internship during their 5 Years Integrated Degree Course. Students of 3 Years LL.B. Degree Course are required to undergo a compulsory 12 weeks of Internship.
The Institution has always aimed at producing a generation of lawyers who can act as an agent of social change to help build a better society. The internship program equips students to perform various roles and responsibilities.
The Institution has a highly committed Internship and Placement Training Committee (IPTC) composed of a Faculty coordinator and Member along with dedicated student members. The IPTC has the objective of providing and disseminating information related to various Internships and Placement opportunities to the students and placing them with reputed law firms, lawyers, in-house legal departments and NGO’s after their semester examinations.
The Institution through the IPTC has collaborations with NGOs places the students of First Years for Internship after their examinations. The IPTC emphasizes on career counseling sessions for students enabling them to choose the right domain.
The IPTC conducts various activities and workshops to teach professional ethics, analytical thinking, social responsibility and management of challenges faced in the professional life and various other skills such as group discussions, the mock interview that are required during placement drives. Internship related Seminars and Webinars are also organized by the Committee by inviting Resource Persons who are experts in the particular field to give exposure to opportunities and challenges. Training on drafting of Curriculum Vitae (CVs) and Cover Letter and usage of social media platforms for getting Internships are also provided by the IPTC.
In addition to the mandatory internship period, the students are encouraged to take up internships to enhance their skills and ability to work professionally.
Placement plays an important role in student's academics. In-campus placement opportunities give students wings to explore the future.
The College has a very strong interaction center and a full-fledged Training and Placement Cell.
The Placement Committee works closely with a number of law firms, chambers, corporate and government bodies to assist the registered students to connect to legal employers during the final year of studies. “Interface”, an annual placement initiative for the students exposes them to the diverse requirements of various legal sectors.
Placement Cell conducts various activities and workshops to teach professional ethics, analytical thinking, social responsibility and management of challenges faced in professional life and various other skills such as group discussions, the mock interview that are required during placement drives. Seminars and talks from professionals of various firms are conducted to give exposure to opportunities and challenges. For any student in need, Career counseling is provided to choose the right domain. Students are encouraged to take up internships, part-time jobs volunteering to enhance skills and ability to work professionally. The unique teaching method adopted by the college, which closely monitors the theoretical and practical education simultaneously, is impacting the placements positively.
