B.S. Narayan Memorial Library and Information Centre, BMSCL was established in the year 1963. The college library has a rich collection of resources, around 28169 volumes including Books, back volumes of Journals & Reports, Commission Reports, Encyclopaedias, Dictionaries, General Books and also the library subscribed for 28 National & International Journals, 07 Newspapers, and 13 Magazines.
The library subscribed for many online databases like Manupatra, Lexis Advance, SCC Online, CDJ Law Journals and EBC Reader to access legal information, e-journals and e-books.
The library is built in 4962 Sq. ft area, 300 Seating Capacity with ample space for storage of books and reading area. The library has an open access system to facilitate readers to have easy access to the library resources.
The library provides Eco-friendly reading area to the students. Students can sit on reading benches with books and gadgets to sharpen their knowledge. The area is eco friendly, surrounded by the Green Plants, that will be minimize the electricity consumption, Conservation of Resources like Rain Water, with beautiful art done by Earth Club of BMSCL.
The library provides exclusive/separate reading area with access to online resources and issue of books to the Moot court participants to encourage students to participate in competitions.
The library serves the faculty members with the separate Reading Area & Computer accessories to access online resources with printer facility.
The library has provided exclusive reading table and Computer system with NVDA Screen Reader Software to the physically challenged students along with staff assistance.
College library is an registered member of Shri Narayana Rao Melgiri Library of National Law School of India University, Bangalore Through the Institutional Membership, faculty members and students can use of library resources for their academic and research.
The library is an active member of INFLIBNET-NLIST program that provides access to a number of e-books and e-journals relating to law.
Best Practices of B.S Narayan Memorial Library and Information Centre, BMSCL
- To motivate and encourage students, to inculcate the habit of reading 'Best Library User Award' for the optimum users of the library resources is instituted in the year 2016-2017.
- Book Exhibition cum Sale is organised in every semester in collaboration with MPP House, M/S Narayanaswamy, Ameya Law Agency, Intact Book House, Ell Enn Books, Premier Book House and Mohan Law House etc. to provide books at a discounted price to the staff and students.
- The library conducts user orientation programme on usage of online legal databases, library sources and services for new users.
